This is a semi-auto version of the M10 9mm open bolt SMG built by RPB Industries. These were built for 5 or 6 years before they were banned by the ATF. These are a big pistol, but an interesting part of U.S. SMG history
Military Armament Corporation (MAC) in Powder Springs Georgia started by Gordon Ingram (who designed and built the MAC SMG) produced MACs (in 9mm, .45acp, and .380) from 1970-1976
Military Armament Corporation (MAC) sold its tooling and assets (registered and unregistered frames, and parts) to RPB in 1977. RPB marketed the MAC as a Semi-Auto open bolt pistol
ATF stopped the manufacture of open bolt semi-autos in1982. RPB went out of business in 1983.

SWD started in 1983 and re-designed the MAC to fire from a closed bolt

is it still legal to buy and own a open bolt RPB semi-auto pistol without it being classified as something other than a regular pistol? And this is for the state of IL. not the chicago area
Any help would be greatly appreciated
