The JEFF-COOPER package version: Jeff Cooper, Colonel in the American Marine Corps and founder of the legendary shooting and training center in Arizona, Gunsite, was also a hunter and had always been a fan of Steyr rifles, especially the SSG P1. Because of his connections to Steyr Mannlicher, he shared his experience with the Austrians and came up with some decisive proposals for the improvement of the rifle. This led to the development of the SSG 69 PII version. In the 1990's, Cooper's dream became reality. Steyr Mannlicher built Cooper's concept of a perfect rifle, the Scout. The high specifications of the Scout fulfilled the expectations of the passionate gun expert, but nevertheless its pricing was set at too high a level for the American market.
