Todays trip to the shooting range was eventful. While we were there a XD-M in .40 blew up in the hands of the guy shooting next to us. Here are the photos of the XDm- 40 after a round blew up the frame and destroyed the gun. The cracked frame on this Springfield XDm 40 after we pulled the magazine from the pistol and locked the slide back is easy to see. The next round in the magazine took a lot of the damage when this round blew up, the hollow point round was ripped open in place inside the magazine. The case of the round that exploded is still in the barrel of the broken XDM-40. The Springfield XDm-40 after the pistol was broken down The cracked frame, damaged round in the magazine and the exploded round in the barrel. The round did go off looking down the barrel the open primer pocket on the damaged case is visible. The previous round fired had some marks on the case, but nothing to indicate why the round exploded. Springfield XDm 40 frame cracked from an exploded round

as an owner of one of these bad guys i find this scary. was it factory ammo and the bulge in the case make it seem like maybe the round was not fully chambered. in which case i dont think the gun should fire. i have been shooting mostly lead in mine, with great results for lead fouling please post if you find out what the co. comes up with.
